Hi everyone,
I've decided to write a quick post about my block for Hayley so far....whilst I really love my two fabrics side by side, I've come to the realisation that they don't look so effective once cut up into small pieces. My fault for not studying the pattern closer before selecting them. Ahh!! I guess the effect of the large scale print is lost and there's too much white going on....? Before I stop and make a start with new fabrics....I thought I'd share my photos and see what your thoughts are. Do you agree? Oh and by the way, I need to rotate a couple of pairs of triangles around the central square. :)

  1. Hi Chris, I would agree, those two fabrics are great together (that print is adorable!!) but for this particular block there is too much white. I'm looking at how the blue with black dots in the center really stands out... so my suggestion would be to find a fabric with less white in it. Thanks for sharing your "stumble" with us. This will be helpful when I am choosing my fabrics.

  2. Oh I think that looks pretty together! It makes the colours look like they are floating. Should make for a stunning block

  3. Thanks Jennifer and Hayley! OK great, I was thinking if you were happy with it Hayley I would continue :) It's been fun making it so far and I LOVE how useful my square ruler has been. Perhaps if my block is such an oddball compared to the rest, it could go on the back of your quilt!? :))

  4. Super! I'm glad it all worked out. I have chosen my fabrics and I am going to work with an orange print. Can't wait to get started this afternoon.
