Hello ladies! I'd like to share some quilts I just made. These are terrible pictures. However, it is just one of those days, and if I try to take better ones, it won't happen, so here they are. I made these lap size quilts using Amy Karol's book, Bend-the-Rules-Sewing. It is a great book, worth a look. Scott's family inherited a farm house outside of Montreal, and I made these as gifts for two lovely ladies who have helped up with the house a lot in the last year. I hope they like them!
And for my question. I am a bit embarrassed to ask it as I think it will reveal me as a complete novice quilter! But here goes... I just finished my two final spider web squares and am ready to put the top together. Should I trim each square to make sure they are all the same size? They are just slightly off, but am worried it'll wreck the overall affect if I don't get the corners right....
I have another question, but will wait until I get the squares together to ask it. Hope you are all well!
I think this is always a tricky decision. Personally, I would ease the blocks to fit if they are only slightly different sizes. With the spider web blocks you have a lot of bias edges so the easing of one block to match another should be quite easy. If you press the seams as I tried to describe in 'bee buzz' a couple of months ago you should get the corners to match well. However do not worry too much about the corners not being exactly right as I promise you no-one will ever notice a slight discrepancy (unless you tell them).

I love your quilts and so very glad that you shared photos of them with us!! Not sure what to say about the spider blocks...I would want to see them in person before giving any advice. That being said (and this may be obvious) just make sure the white parts match up. Do you have a square ruler to use if you decide to trim them all? I borrowed one from my friend Pat when I trimmed my circle blocks - very handy! Let us know how it goes and if you want some more 'novice' help, you could wait until our June gathering to work on them too. Good luck :) Shauna
