Katy's Snowball Block for Linsay

Snowballs and snow....
I woke early this morning with my youngest, and when I looked out the window of our family room, for a minute I thought I saw snow on the ground... But it was just the way the light was shining on the dew. It is now setting in to fall-like weather here, and this is my favourite time of year. That, and the first few snow falls.

I loved working on this block, Linsay, and thinking about snow and all the fun things to come this winter. It is a classic pattern that I see often in vintage quilts, and I too want to replicate this one for my own. If only I had more time to sew. I loved thinking about hot and cold colours when I picked the fabrics. I think I know more about the colour spectrum now. In the photo the orange looks like a solid, but it's a print...and the it is funny how some of the colours change and sand out. In person, they look a bit different. I'll drop it in the mail today!

I hope you love the finished quilt - I can't wait to see it!

  1. That block looks lovely. The blues and oranges are working beautifully together. The peacock looks great, standing there proudly with its chest puffed out. Thank you Katy, I can't wait for it to arrive.

  2. Hi Katy, As always I love your fabrics. The peacock, the blue and white floral, the yellow with butterflies...all wonderful. For me too, the work always seems to look better in person than in the photo. Perhaps I need to learn more about my camera!
